Contacts Needed Regarding Proposed Mid-Year State Aid to Public Library Cuts
As you are aware, the Legislature will convene in Tallahassee January 5 to determine how to deal with a projected $2.3 billion mid-year revenue shortfall. They will be looking at changes to the current budget for the year ending June 30, 2009. This message provides background regarding the budget process and urges library advocates to contact their legislators.
Background - In mid-December, House and Senate appropriations committees met in Tallahassee and began their deliberations by looking at options and on December 23rd, Governor Crist published his recommendations for how the state should respond.
The House and Senate Transportation and Economic Development Committees, those with primary responsibility for the funding of library programs in the Department of State budget, discussed State Aid to Public Libraries cuts ranging from $2.8 to $3.9 million because they were looking primarily at cuts, not additional revenues. The Governor’s recommended State Aid cut is $1.06 million, or 4% of the current $26.7 appropriation, part of a 4% across the board hold-back implemented earlier in the year.
FLA is advising library advocates to support the Governor’s proposed reduction. Arguing against any reductions in these budget circumstances would not be reasonable. There will be cuts; our objective is to keep them as small as possible.
Action Needed - It is important for Florida library advocates to contact their legislators before the January 5 Special Session. It is especially important for those advocates represented by members of the House and Senate Transportation and Economic Development Committees (below) to get the message to their legislators.
The Message - Support the Governor’s proposed $1.06 million reduction for State Aid to Public Libraries.

We understand the state is facing the worst budget challenges in modern times and we respect the fact that you will have to make difficult decisions and that no area will be exempt from cuts. We ask that you support the Governor’s proposed $1.06 million reduction to the State Aid to Public Libraries Program rather than the larger cuts of $2.8 and $3.9 proposed to the Senate and the House.
We ask that as you go about your deliberations, that you stay mindful of the benefits Floridians receive from Florida libraries – especially during difficult economic times like these.

Teens benefit from a safe environment for reading, computers, games and a place to socialize with adult supervision.

DMG And DMAE Part Two
DMAE and DMG Part TwoThe Product
The smart drugs mentioned yesterday are common and easy to get.
DMAE is used by many families as an alternative to prescription cognitive enhancers. It comes in capsules, pills, liquids and trans-dermal cream. The clinical dose during the extensive trails of the product was 1,000 milligrams a day.
There are capsules that usually come in half that strength.
I suggest experimenting with your dosage, starting with a lower dose. If you take too much you will get the opposite result. You will feel sleepy, sleepy, sleepy. Your eye-lids will get heavy, very heavy. Your eye-lids will feel like sandbags and you will be unable to keep them open. You will sleep.
Wake up, centered, relaxed and awake.
Now, if you want to.
See, you should have taken less.
The second problem is that if you take too much you will feel a nasty tension in your neck and sciatic nerves and have muscle cramps.
The third problem is that it can take a very long time to metabolize. Some people feel it immediately, especially those who use the liquid. Initially with the pills it took me six to eight hours to feel real results.
The fourth problem is being a little jittery if you exceed your need with the product. The amazing thing is that the brain reaches a threshold and DMAE is not longer needed. Your brain adjusts, produces more energy and a natural DMAE.
It works.
I prefer the liquid. There is also a liquid mixture for kids that tastes better and contains other vitamins. It is not from Twin Labs.
It’s cheap.

Getting Smarter than You are: DMG
DMGing The Brain And Body
Dimethylglycine or DMG as it is commercially known is one of the odder cookies in my cookie jar.
I picked DMG up at my local health food store a couple of years ago. It is a cognitive enhancer.
I used it on and off.
I seem to always come back to it like a dependable tool.
I have a wicked ADD condition which is foamed over my psychology like whip cream. That’s on top of an autistic sundae of perception. My wild mind is already preconditioned to an expanded detail that overwhelms my senses and tosses my thoughts like peanuts on ice cream. The cherry at the top is the toxic damaged I picked up in Hawaii.
DMG is the thing I use instead of stripping screws when I get fatigued, dull or blank.
The other steady smart drug in my healing efforts is DMAE which sharpens focus. It also repairs brain damage, increases language retention and skills by inserting spaces between words and hardening consonants. It has a slightly stimulating effect, like two good cups of Hawaiian coffee.
DMAE is a diuretic and brain detoxer. . It increases intelligence by 30 percent. It metabolizes into H3, one of the most powerful memory enhancers for people dealing with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
It comes in liquid and pill form. It also comes in the form of a topical lotion because it reduces wrinkles.
That’s the kind of smorgasbord of effects I like in my smart dugs.
I have my needs and I do a lot of research.
I read about DMG awhile back. . It interested me because it was another well researched “smart drug” or cognitive enhancer. It affects the frontal lobes of the brain. Back brain focus is a cultural phenomenon as far as I can tell. Most of the world is there. Americans have a bias for the fore-brain. In the East, Africa and the Pacific Basin there is a back brain or “both” bias for cognition.
They are very different forms of focus and ways of seeing things.
. DMG, as I mentioned, creates a front brain focus and is slightly stimulating.
That was enough to get me to try it. It comes in pills, sublingual pills, and liquid format.
I find it relaxing.
I like liquids and things that slide under or melt on top of the tongue like chocolate. Chocolate is also a cognitive enhancer and is similar to DMAE in that it impacts endorphins, language and sex drive. I saw a big pile of chocolate at a post Christmas sale yesterday and went for it like hotly twanged arrow.
DMG is on my mind this week because there is a new product on the market. It now comes in a topical lotion. There is an increasing movement to provide supplements to come in a highly absorptive cream. The trans-dermal approach to using substances is something I will talk more about at some point.
Things smooched on the skin are very sensual. I will say that. Feeling them absorb and be taken into your bloodstream is an amazing thing to go with.
The other thing I like about DMG and DMAE is the impact is almost immediate if taken right. DMAE usually takes a long time to metabolize.
DMG has the same list of effects as DMAE.
What interests me is DMG’s dominant impact.
It is a well tested anti-biotic. It is used under prescription for animals.
People don’t need a prescription to use it. It is relatively harmless, like the DMAE it has few and controllable side effects.
I am concerned by bioterrorism, like a lot of Americans, and as stated earlier in this blog, I am also concerned about the increasing resistance to some engineered and new viruses and bacteria that seem to resist existing antibiotics.
For conditions like MRSA and anthrax exposure, this can be frightening to say the least.
DMG, incidentally, is effective against both.
Having said that, here’s the rest:
It dramatically increases T-cell production and acts to strengthen the immune system.
It dissolves tumors in the breast and brain.
DMG aides in preventing the tumors..
To top it off, the topical DMG has several other effects that I have never noticed with the liquid or sublingual pills.
It is one of the most incredible sexual stimulators I have ever used or seen. Keep in mind that I do sex therapy when I am wearing my counselor gear.
Let me be blunt.
My observation is that it is absorbed directly into a woman’s g-spot and causes immediate multiple orgasms. In men it goes to the prostrate and does the same.
This is my experiential observation. I admit that I have a very small sample in my research barrel, but HOLY TOLEDO, talk about your basic whammy cream.
