LT. GOV, LEGISLATORS, KSC DIRECTOR TO SPEAK
AT FLORIDA SPACE & TECHNOLOGY FORUM

COCOA, Fla. – Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp and Kennedy Space Center Director Bill Parsons will be the keynote speakers at the Florida Space and Technology Forum to be held Monday, September 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Florida Solar Energy Center in Cocoa .
Space is Florida ’s original high-tech industry, with space contractors in 47 of Florida ’s 67 counties. When the Space Shuttle fleet is retired in 2010, Florida could lose up to 10,000 high-wage jobs, further impacting the state’s fragile economy.
Congressman Tom Feeney, Florida senators Mike Haridopolos and Bill Posey, and Florida representatives Sandy Adams, Thad Altman, Dean Cannon, Ralph Poppell, Steve Precourt , and Tony Sasso will join moderator John Thrasher to discuss and create a legislative agenda to advocate for Florida ’s space industry.
Industry presentations will be made by ASRC Aerospace Corporation, The Boeing Company, ITV Group, Lockheed Martin Corporation, Northrop Grumman, United Launch Alliance, Wyle Laboratories, and Zero Gravity Corporation.
The goals of the forum are to asses Florida’s assets and limitations and develop a public policy agenda to increase the state’s competitive advantage; determine how the State of Florida and its advocacy groups can assist Florida’s congressional delegation in promoting space and technology; develop a state budget request for space, to be submitted to the governor and state legislature for the 2008 legislative session; identify roles and improve relationships of all groups supporting Florida’s space industry; and create a master calendar for coordination of Florida’s space advocacy activities at the state and federal level.
Issues such as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education; university-based research and applied technology; space infrastructure; employment; business development; and state and federal partnerships will be discussed.
This program is free and open to the public. The Florida Solar Energy Center is located at the northeast corner of Brevard Community College ’s Cocoa Campus.

Infra-sound and Road Rage in Florida

Infra-sound and Road Rage In Florida

Melbourne Florida is the “Road Rage” capitol of the country.
There are more reports of the nasty anomaly here than anywhere else in the country. Road Rage is the sudden violence that sometimes happens in traffic and traffic jams. It moves beyond the traditional anatomical name calling and flipping digits that are invoked during cut-offs and sudden stopping.
Nobody likes how anyone else drives anyway, unless they are into NASCAR. Even then you might hear a noun like “ass-hole” screamed over a blaring horn section used as a personal adjective (as in “you are an ass-hole”) or as a solo ejaculation “ass-hole!)
It’s the music of the road.
Road Rage is something different.
In his book, The Curse of Lono, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson writes about rumors of traffic over the Pali Highway in Hawaii. In it, he describes what he has been told, of people leaving their cars in a rage brandishing Samoan war clubs to confront anyone in any car close enough to set off their alarm. There is no reason for this behavior. It just happens that way. It’s described as a cultural tid-bit, like hula or surfing.
He’s not right, by the way. War clubs are not typical in traffic nor are existing war clubs brought out that casually like chopsticks. As he found out, Samoan war clubs are very heavy.
I rode around Houston with my sister once. She told be that shoot outs were common on the highways there. She tells a good story. She had me thinking about how to best barricade ourselves behind the compact car we were riding in after we were side swiped by a maniac and swerved off the road into a ditch. I thought to myself we would have to somehow turn it on its side like a Conestoga wagon before the back end of a SUV opened up and revealed a Gatlin gun blazing away at us.
Those are legal again. Not only in Texas.
Road Rage a subject as heavy as a Samoan War club in certain circles.
The reason is that is believed that Road Rage is caused by something called infra-sound. There are ongoing classes and research being done on the subject at FIT, The Florida Institute of Technology.
It is caused by echoing sound within a certain wave length that creates a repetitive audio signal. It involves low frequency sound and is associated with catacombs and sewer lines.
In Europe it is a more commonly discussed issue.
With their large Cathedrals and big pipe organs incidents concerning infra-sound have been documented over the centuries. Some of those big stone gargoyles that rim the churches often are seen in various stages of psychological arousal. Some cover their ears. Some thumb their noses in classic double nose-thumbing.
My younger sister and I did this when we were younger.
Now we’ve graduated to the more subtle triple and quadruple nose thumbing.
Riding around in traffic surrounded by Gargoyle like apparitions that appear behind the wheels of speeding vehicles in Road Rage like conditions is probably a similar spiritual experience.
Hawaii is laced with lava tubes, which accounts for some incidents of road rage.
In Nebraska and Florida, the aquifer, the underground chambers of water, or the depleted water table has created caverns beneath the every day world of our cities.
Beneath us, the crazy echoes of our civilization reverberate in low frequency and come back on us like raptors to stalk and eat us.
I have compassion for the police officers, emergency workers and road crew who have to work in these conditions. I wonder about the role it plays in off-road violence and inter-personal crimes.
Infra-sound is not all bad.
There are applications that are altogether useful, frequencies that impact body and psychology in a healthy way. NSA and Homeland security have put out several law enforcement and research grants to work with infra-sound as non-lethal weapons for crowd control and for psychological applications.
It may result in a harmonizing of signals that would promote well-being instead of spontaneous gutting and fisticuffs.
To say that this is an emotional issue is redundant.
People are terrified to talk about it, as if it is a secret. That may account for some resistance to my posing this article.
Be that as it may, I am including some Web links for you to do research and form your own opinions.
Until the harmony overwhelms the hate, please drive like you are mildly paranoid, hyper-vigilant and like you are driving with a dozen fertilized eggs on the hood of your car. Be aware of your mood shifts as you are caught in rush hour traffic on the way to Orlando. Be aware of the gas filled expressions of the Gargoyles driving beside you and in the back seat.
I’ll pray for you if you pray for me.

Eye-Ball Now On Donated Medical Equipment For Womens And Sexual Assualt Treatment Clinics

Sometimes a man or woman is afraid to go to the hospital after a sexual assualt. It is extremely important for evidence gathering and basic physical health to get an examination immidiately, if for no other reason than to make sure there is no damage and to get an antibiotic shot in case of a preventable disease. You have to be licensed to do medical sexual assualt examinations. I'd like to see local agencies with medical staff on hand to help people who are terrified of going to the emergency room and facing people who may or may not be well trained in sex abuse examinations. It is a cold and grueling experience sometimes, no matter how compassionate or competent staffing is. Here's hope. While donations may be limited, grants may be more available than you are aware of. Please help your local victim advocates and sex abuse clinics with your grant and finacial support.

Rules of Adverse Assumptions
If you are like most parents, you want the school to provide your child with quality special education services and supports - and, you want to avoid a due process hearing.
In the Wrightslaw model of special education advocacy, you prepare for a "worst case scenario." You hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
If you prepare for a due process hearing while maintaining good relationships with school personnel, your child is likely to receive good services and you will probably not have to request a hearing.
If you have a dispute with the school, you must make several negative assumptions.
The Rules of Adverse Assumptions:
assume a due process hearing will be necessary to resolve your dispute;
assume you will request the hearing
assume that all school personnel will testify against you;
assume that the school personnel's recollection of the facts will be opposite of yours;
assume the Hearing Officer is biased against parents of children with disabilities; and
assume you cannot testify.
Read more about the Rules of Adverse Assumptions in Chapter 21, Wrightslaw: From Emotions to Advocacy.
You will learn about proof and evidence and how to use the school's evidence to prove your case if you go to due process.
