Silver isn’t the safest anti-biotic on the market for a number of reasons.
I’ll get a few things out of the way right from the giddy-up.
Silver is not the greatest metal for strength. It is very brittle. It has an extremely low melting point. As a result solid silver wire, for instance is rare. It breaks, melts and dissolves.
The wire is usually mixed with nickel or lead to increase strength.
If the source of the silver in colloidal silver is an electrified wire or even a silver brick there is a chance that there is some lead in any electronic silver infusion. What good is an anti-biotic that gives you dementia? I'm not sure how much lead transfers. It's just a thought.
Sterling Silver is deadly if infused or eaten. That ring may make you lolly-gag and forget your name. The silver spoon you are use to sucking ice cream off of is potentially deadly. How much Sterling Silver does it take to kill you? I don't know. That necklace around your neck in a high electronic atmosphere could infuse a toxic steam into you that would turn you blue and poison you. It could kill you.

2. The Silver Bullet
Silver kills bacteria.
I’d say that silver kills all bacteria but in recent history there has been an increase in a strain of silver resistant bacteria.
All in all silver is very effective against bacteria.
That is all bacteria except bacteria with a motive. Or bacteria that wants to live.
This is not unusual.
All our anti-biotics are becoming less effective. The bacteria are now developing resistance to all anti-biotics. Bioterrorists love that.
The bacteria are winning. They are as resilient as cockroaches.
Bacteria develops defenses. Our anti-biotics are not flexible enough to deal with the changes. They need to evolve with the bacteria.
We need to be continually developing new antibiotics.
At this writing we are in an elevated national security alert.
The truly awful MRSA fungus is showing up in public schools.
We are living under the threat of more terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.

Threats predicting attacks have been numerous and intense in the last three months.
Bioterrorism is a national concern.

I am confused by this legislation limiting the uses of collodial silver.
It cuts off cheap options for an effective anti-biotic/anti-fungal for medical emergencies, bioterrorism, or near pan-epidemic situations.
My life was probably saved by an experimental vaccine or a negative ion infusion. There were over 800 other people in my condo complex. We shared a central air conditioner. Postal workers and transportation personnel were exposed to the anthrax.
High density negative ion generators seem to be the most likely reason that a much larger crisis didn’t happen. I had several in my condo at the time to help me with allergies, asthma and sharpen my cognition.
Like ultra-violet light, negative ions kill bacteria like anthrax.
I supplemented to kill bacteria and buck up my immune system.
Why is the ban even being considered at this time? Why was it buried in this bill? Some of the congress people involved are said to have accepted money from big pharmacutical companies.
There are large contributors to political organizations whose background and affiliations need to be check out.
I'm a novelist. I love a good plot.

How do I know it's safer? I don't.

Because people are resistant (Over 80% of sexual assault survivors do not report the crime to the police, according to the United States Justice Department) to getting proper medical help let alone reporting crimes to the police, community support is vital. Strong women’s organizations and churches have always kept solutions handy in order to help when the situation falls outside of the box. Silver is a very common solution for long term or terminal illnesses.
I view the right to supplement and to treat myself for both prevention and comfort vital to my overall medical rights and situation. I support the liberal use of pain medication for the terminally ill. Choosing a pain free oncologist is very important to some people who face death on a daily basis for real. people with cancer or AIDS for example.
I’m just that way. Pain hurts.
I hate that.
Civil liberties from my point of view are the only thing worth fighting for.
The right to choose a legal path in basic issues such as self-care is essential to me in terms of my my overall rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Information received today is that the House Transportation and Economic Development Appropriations Committee (TED) has a $4.3 cut to this year’s State Aid in their current proposal. It appears as though the Senate TED will put forward a cut that is lower than the $2.8 million that the Secretary of State proposed. It is vital now that the House and Senate TED committees (listed in the attachment) hear from library supporters. Please spread this message as widely as you possibly can and get advocacy going on a large scale TODAY. Let them know we support the Senate’s position over the House’s.
News from the Senate is that they have heard from several library directors recently! Thank you so much for that quick action. It has had a big impact. BREVARD OCEAN RESCUE SEEKS LIFEGUARD APPLICANTS
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. – Brevard County Ocean Rescue, a division of Brevard County Fire Rescue, is looking for intelligent, athletic, enthusiastic people to become seasonal ocean lifeguards.
Lifeguard tryouts will be held on Saturday, January 31 and Saturday, March 28 at 7 a.m. at Rockledge High School . All applicants must be prepared to swim 500 meters in 10 minutes and run two miles in 20 minutes, so they should bring swimming apparel, running shoes and towel when reporting to the tryout.
Following the tryout, applicants must complete a 40-hour first responder class and a 60-hour lifeguard academy. All ocean lifeguards must be United States Lifesaving Association certified with a minimum of first responder training. The scope of responsibility for lifeguards include accident and drowning prevention, public education, citizen assist, search and recovery of lost children, basic life support, and swimmer rescues.

The Florida Legislature convened in Tallahassee yesterday in a special session to address the state's $2 billion budget shortfall. Some state leaders have proposed tapping the Lawton Chiles Endowment Fund in order to balance the budget.
After Florida's landmark settlement with the tobacco companies, the state used a portion of the proceeds to create the Lawton Chiles Endowment Fund. For a decade, income from the Chiles Fund has provided critical funding for services to children and the elderly. Last year, lawmakers gave the Governor the ability to use $354 million of the funds principle, and now the Governor and some legislators have proposed taking $600 million from the fund.
Because of the stock market's plunge over the last six months, the fund has lost nearly half of its value, now at only $1.2 billion. To tap the fund's principle, the state would have to sell securities at dramatic losses, making it nearly impossible for the fund to ever recover.
St. Petersburg Times editorial board called this plan "short-sighted" and warned that raiding the Chiles Endowment "would harm the children and underprivileged who have been promised that the endowment would help pay for services they desperately need for years to come."
Rather than jeopardizing prevention and health care programs that serve at-risk populations, others have proposed more far-sighted solutions, such as eliminating special-interest sales tax loopholes, and increasing the state's cigarette tax to the national average, a move that would bring in $1 billion next year alone.

Contacts Needed Regarding Proposed Mid-Year State Aid to Public Library Cuts
As you are aware, the Legislature will convene in Tallahassee January 5 to determine how to deal with a projected $2.3 billion mid-year revenue shortfall. They will be looking at changes to the current budget for the year ending June 30, 2009. This message provides background regarding the budget process and urges library advocates to contact their legislators.
Background - In mid-December, House and Senate appropriations committees met in Tallahassee and began their deliberations by looking at options and on December 23rd, Governor Crist published his recommendations for how the state should respond.
The House and Senate Transportation and Economic Development Committees, those with primary responsibility for the funding of library programs in the Department of State budget, discussed State Aid to Public Libraries cuts ranging from $2.8 to $3.9 million because they were looking primarily at cuts, not additional revenues. The Governor’s recommended State Aid cut is $1.06 million, or 4% of the current $26.7 appropriation, part of a 4% across the board hold-back implemented earlier in the year.
FLA is advising library advocates to support the Governor’s proposed reduction. Arguing against any reductions in these budget circumstances would not be reasonable. There will be cuts; our objective is to keep them as small as possible.
Action Needed - It is important for Florida library advocates to contact their legislators before the January 5 Special Session. It is especially important for those advocates represented by members of the House and Senate Transportation and Economic Development Committees (below) to get the message to their legislators.

We ask that you support the Governor’s proposed $1.06 million reduction to the State Aid to Public Libraries Program rather than the larger cuts of $2.8 and $3.9 proposed to the Senate and the House.
We ask that as you go about your deliberations, that you stay mindful of the benefits Floridians receive from Florida libraries – especially during difficult economic times like these.
§ Florida Libraries Help Residents Get Jobs! Libraries provide services and information to help people find job postings, prepare resumes, and submit online applications.
§ Florida Libraries Help Government Deliver Services! Libraries are the only provider of free Internet access in their communities and the place to go to access e-government services.
§ Florida Libraries Play a Critical Role in Kids’ Learning! – Libraries help young children learn to read and help parents and caregivers learn to be their children’s first teachers. Children and families benefit from homework assistance programs, tutoring, support for homeschoolers, and casual library experience. Teens benefit from a safe environment for reading, computers, games and a place to socialize with adult supervision.
